Target |
Complement C5a is generated in the circulation by the activation of complement. It is a so-called anaphylatoxin of 74 amino-acid residues generated by the action of C5 convertase, which cleaves C5 into C5a and C5b. It is rapidly inactivated by serum carboxypeptidase B, which removes the C-terminal arginine residue generating C5a(desArg). (1) |
