Target
Gelsolin participates in the extracellular actin scavenger system, binding actin and disaggregating filamentous actin released from dying cells. Actin monomers are then transferred to Gc-globulin. The plasma concentration of gelsolin is reduced in conditions of major actin release, such as acute liver failure, major trauma and rhabdomyolysis, where multi-organ failure is a risk. It has been suggested that gelsolin, like Gc-globulin, can be a prognostic factor in these conditions.

Application

ELISA: ABS 017-20 does not work as a capture antibody in sandwich ELISA.

WB: ABS 017-20 can be used in Western blotting.

IHC: ABS 017-20 can be used in Immunohistochemistry.

Immunohistochemical staining of human kidney with ABS 017-20 shows cytoplasmic and membranous positivity in both renal tubules and glomeruli. Antibody dilution: 1:6000 (www.proteinatlas.org)

IF: ABS 017-20 can be used in Immunofluorescence.

Immunofluorescent staining of human cell line U-251 MG shows positivity in actin filaments. Antibody dilution: 1:2000 (www.proteinatlas.org)
